Front cover analysis
The front cover of this issue of NME features the band Arctic Monkeys on the release of their new lbum AM. It shows all 4 of the members of the band looking at the camera with palm trees and hot weather in the background as they wrote their new album in the USA. The members of the band are all facing the camera directly and therefor all have a good gaze which engages the audience more as it creates the impression that the band are actually looking at them whilst they are reading the magazine. Although one memner is wearing sunglasses which means we cant see his eyes, we still know he is looking at the camera creating a good gaze and interaction with the audience. One code and convenction of the magazine is the colour scheme. The colour of the NME logo is red because this si the colour every issue, it is the traditional colour scheme of the magazine. Yet again the main colour sheme is red white and black because this is the housestyle of the magazine. These colours are good because they indicate and represent the same type of musci that NME magazine covers: Indie rock music. Also these colous do not limit the magazine to addressing specific genders. The colours used are both Male and Female friendly so both genders are the target audience. The target audience for NME are both male and females aged 15-30.
